At the gateway to some of South Australia’s most spectacular destinations - the Flinders Ranges, outback and Spencer Gulf - is Port Augusta, just over 300 kilometres from Adelaide. Discovery Parks - Port Augusta (formerly Port August Holiday Park) is the ideal holiday park to plan your great southern adventure.  Situated on the tip of the Spencer Gulf, Port Augusta is known as the 'Crossroads of Australia'.

It is where the major inland highways from Western Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales and Victoria converge, and offers the weary traveller a perfect stopover between vast travelling distances.

At the foothills of the imposing Flinders Ranges, Port Augusta is the 'back door' to the great Australian outback, this intriguing environment where desert meets the sea, is a delight to explore.

Great park with great staff and facilities. At 17 metres, we were provided a drive through site - a rarity in a park. The toilet block was modern, clean and showers were good.

This caravan park is currently undergoing modifications but this did not affect our stay. We found the reception to be very friendly and helpful, the powered sites are level but maybe a little narrow if you had an awning. The amenities are excellent, camp kitchen has all you need and is also enclosed which is great on those cool nights. Location is walking distance to town if you don’t mind a nice walk. The price for Discovery members is about $35 per night depending on number of nights stayed. Overall very nice.

Drive through site booked and supplied though they are very narrow. There is no way to put up an awning without impinging on your neighbour. Booking is essential as powered and drive through sites were all gone by 1400 on the day we arrived. Sites are sloped and where you park on you patch can make a difference between being able to get level or not. We noticed a number of caravans levelled by having their tow ball receivers centimetres from the ground. Facilities are clean and tidy and the staff are friendly and helpful. Park maintenance are also quick to deal with problems and go about their task in a friendly manner.

A gently sloping area the sites are grassed but with little shade. There is a good double camp kitchen with all the essential facilities duplicated. The area can be used for one large party of divided into two cooking and eating areas. There was limited WIFI of 200Mb but was not accessible at the sites. There is a small shopping centre down the hill from the site with a Foodland supermarket a baker a farm outlet selling fruit and vegetables and a fishing and camping store. The park was in the process of changing ownership from Aspen Parks to Discovery Parks.
