Caravan Park - Victoria

Welcome to one of Charlton's best kept secrets, it's affordable caravan park.  We have a North and South side to the park, with the Avoca river running through the middle, accessible by the swing bridge.  The North side belongs to the Dollar Wise program. The location is only 200m from the main street and all the shops.

The laundry facility can also be available to the free park visitors, just ask.

We believe in using the trust system (long forgotten in most of life today). If no one is in attendance at the office, the keys are hanging up for you to use. Just park up, ring the manager, or wait for someone to arrive and collect your hard earned.

Did you know that the crime rate here is 60% less than the state average? So we don't need to use the obligatory boom gates, electronic keys, CCTV etc. It's one of the ways we are able to keep the prices down. It obviously helps to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

The North side is bordered by the Charlton swimming pool (free admission!),  lawn bowling and croquet clubs, which are available for guests who are interested, again, just ask.

We are also critter and politically incorrect friendly!

We stayed in the RV stop, which is supported by a Service club. $10 for first night and next two free. Self Contained units only. When we stayed, there were six motorhomes. Each patron has an individual bay to park in. At the back of the caravan park where the usual fees are paid. A dump point is in the caravan park area. The site is in the main street of Charlton, where tourists are encouraged to stop for a break in this charming small town.

We stayed using one of the 8 ensuite sites. An unusual layout but each gets an ensuite and nice green patch of lawn. It was very cold and unbelievably nice to find ensuites have heater fan in the ceiling. They are spacious and very clean and in good condition. Some ensuites are disabled accessible. I also used the reasonably priced laundry which is a short walk across the river via a bridge. This is a great example of a well run community camping facility with a range of options including dollarewise spots.

We stayed in April 2017 and chose to pay for the powered site to help support them. The site is split with a section on both the north side and the south side of the creek. It is all very nicely done and kept by the local clubs. A nice walk along the river and round town with a bit of history to read about. Highly recommended.
