This is a gorgeous free camping area right on the banks of the Upper Murray River. It is level, grassy and heaps of options with shade or full sun to choose from. The only facility here is toilets but who needs much more when you've got this view. It's a great spot to do some swimming, fishing or kayaking. Just over the bridge you will find a town that will have your essentials.

This part of the Murray is different from downstream areas such as Echuca. The river is faster and clear, running over shallow shingle banks. There is an old avenue of huge plane trees providing dense shade and open areas or partial shade. Beware of parking in the drift zone of riverside willows as millions of aphids will spray paint your RV with the constant ‘honeydew’. It washes off ok but looks awful. The toilet is old and rusty, but works ok.

This free Rest Areas is still one of our favourite spots in Australia. It is still kept tidy and the grass had recently been mowed. Large enough for probably 50 RV’s and it is a very flat area. We have stayed here before and will be back next time we are in the area.

Shady or sunny spots to choose from. Well maintained area, plenty of rubbish bins, swimming access to the river. Walk across the bridge to town for groceries, etc. So peaceful.
