Nature's Hideaway at Middle Lagoon.

Why not plan a few days doing absolutely nothing but swimming, fishing, exploring or lazily watching the whales, turtles and dugongs swim past? At Middle Lagoon you can choose from two accommodation types ranging from fully- and semi- self-contained cabins and unpowered camping sites.

Middle Lagoon is also a terrific gateway from which to explore the fascinating Dampier Peninsula. Take a red dirt morning drive up to stunning Cape Leveque and One Arm Point for incredible views of the Buccaneer Archipelago. It's an easy drive down to Beagle Bay to take a look at the famous pearl-shell altar at the historic Sacred Heart Church.

 Activities

Middle Lagoon is a wonderful place to go exploring, rediscover your love of nature and refresh yourself by getting active. Stroll along beautiful beaches spotting the fabulous shells that are abound (we ask you not to collect them so others can enjoy). fishing is in abundence whether by boat or land and beach launching is available. There's plenty to do if you're feeling active - our pristine waters are ideal for windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling or just floating - but we find that most of our guests come here just to relax, unwind and rejuvenate. Check out the tours page for information on boat tours including whale watching, fishing and sunset cruises.

Fish all day

The water's crystal clear and alive with fish, from tasty little sand whiting and long toms to mangrove jacks, norwest snappers and coral trout. If you bring a boat, head offshore for the bigger game fish that will put up an adrenalin-filled fight. Spanish mackerel, sailfish, tuna and cobia are just a few of the varieties.

The fishing here has something for everyone - beach, reef, offshore and even tidal creeks, so bring a rod or a line and get set to haul in a few beauties!

Being out on the water is not just about fishing. On any boat trip there is a good chance that you will see the migrating whales breaching - they're in our waters from June through to October. At any time of year you can encounter a sunbaking turtle and you may even come across a Dugong.
