Please note: the GPS given above is where the 5 sites are located.  Access is via the Cnr of Wilson Street & Hamilton Smith Drive at GPS -36.1322, 146.8927

The showgrounds offer 5 powered sites on a large grassy area.  You have access to toilets, hot showers and water.  There is signage (outside of the toilet block) with the instructions and contact phone numbers.  You do have to vacate if there is an event on.  Please call first and they will tell you what site to set up on.  It is also pet friendly, however pets must be on a leash or in an enclosure at all times.  Maximum stay here is 28 days.

Stayed 3 nights in Feb 2020. 8 Powered sites. Amenities adequate. No camp kitchen. Quiet open location close to City Centre. Basic but good base for visits to Bright or Beechworth. Good location to stock up on supplies. Would stay again.

Was closed for Covid testing on 20 Dec 2020. Unsure when will again be open for camping.

Very hard to get in contact with as far as I can work out they don’t have camping at the Showgrounds any more

This is a good site with a great Caretaker who does not live onsite but visits in the morning and afternoon. The amenities are cleaned every day. There are now 8 sites available but you need to follow the instructions given above as you must phone first as there is a security gate at the site and you have to be allocated a site number first if there is a vacancy.
