This lovely free camping area is located right on the banks of the river. It has a boat ramp which is easy to launch your boat for some fishing or even have a cool swim. The sites are level and offer shade. It is large and you can camp anywhere you like.
Facilities here include toilets with disabled access, water, covered picnic tables, BBQ's and dogs are permitted.
Definitely a nice place to stay a night or a few! Free hot showers are provided at the visitors centre. Maximum stay is 72 hours.
There are two entry points to this Reserve from Water St or Bunker St. Co-ordinates show are from Water Street the closest point to the main camping area.
This spot is a gem. Plenty of flat parking among the shady river gums on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. Tranquil surroundings just a short walk from the town centre. Gas BBQ's and clean toilets. The only proviso would be dry weather only being on the river flats with grey clay soils. The township is very welcoming of travelers and worth a look around.
How good is this spot. Heaps of room. Lovely Murrumbidge River.
Tracks are good, few boggy ones to avoid.
Gladly stay again.
We stayed two nights at this lovely picturesque bend in the Murrambiggie River. Plenty of choices where you wish to park. Our Spaniel enjoyed a swim in the river.
This is a large open area on the bank of the river not far from the main shopping center mostly level and very popular. Did not stay just drove through.
A great place to stay. Plenty of space on level ground sites with sun or shade near new flushing toilets & a short easy walk into the township. A lovely walk along the river bank with interpretive signage adds to the appeal. Filtered water is available in town at the tourist info centre just ask for the key. We enjoyed our stay here.
Great place to stop, plenty of sunny or shaded sites, modern toilets, fires allowed, easy walk into town. You can get a $2 hot shower as well as fresh water at the Information Centre.
There is also fresh water available at the caravan/car park on the main street.
Great overnight stop on the river. only a short walk into town
Great campsite. Lots of space, shady trees and a sandy beach on the river. Toilets are very clean. Not sure that water taps are potable though. Potable water for your tanks is available at the Tourist Info Centre in town. Must be self contained for this bush camp. Dump point is about 2k up the road.
If only caravan parks were this roomy! Heaps of room, excellent toilets (eg wash basins with paper towels) and picnic, barbecue facilities, close to town. Great walk along river to bridge, walking distance to town, also can walk to Shear Outback centre across river which is worth a visit - shearing demonstration particularly interesting.
Only drawback is that it would turn to mud after rain and probably be inaccessible.
This place is what dreams are made of. Lots of space yet off leash dog sandy beach wowee thank you Hay
Stayed at this site last night, 27/10/19, fantastic spot. Able to top up fresh water tanks in town at the RV parking area!
We stayed for 2 nights, it's a lovely spot, although look out for the ghost gums as they are known for dropping limbs. Showers at the visitors center are now 2dollars.
Great camp for big rigs, plenty of room and level groind, potable water is available in the RV parking area in the main street, tap is located in the gravel area at the rear of the parking area on the northern fence.
Water at Lachlan St opposite Randal st
It has been some years since our last visit, but just as nice. There has been a lot of rain in the past couple of days so caution with driving through. Still a popular location, great facilities and beautiful vista of the river.
