Ron and Andrea Finch would like to introduce you to Selby, over 3,000 hectares of Certified Organic farm in the Riverina region, near the small town of Rankins Springs, 75 kms from Griffith. We are just 5 minutes off the Mid Western Highway, easy all weather access, the perfect refuge on your travels. Nestled in a valley of the Cocopaira Ranges, Selby is based amongst the rolling hills and an extensive cypress pine range. Enjoy peaceful walks, go for a picnic or a bike ride, feed a lamb or simply enjoy the peace and quiet on the porch with a bottle of wine or a cuppa. In the evenings gaze at the stars in the clear night sky by the glow of the campfire.
In our recently renovated shearers’ quarters, The Shack, you will find everything you need for a true country getaway. (On arrival there will also be a bit of home cooking for afternoon tea for you to enjoy, a treat from Andrea!)
The main room has a comfortable double bed, fully equipped kitchen & dining area with a cosy open fire place for cooler winter evenings. The second bedroom can accommodate a further two people. Don't forget the continental breakky provided....cereal, milk, organic fresh farm eggs (when chooks are laying), bread, basic condiments such as margarine, oil, sauce, s & p etc & of course tea & coffee. (if special dietary requirements let Andrea know)
- There is no WiFi, however the Shack does usually receive adequate Telstra reception
- We also welcome and cater for caravans, motorhomes or camping, however you are lucky enough to be travelling
- As we are a working farm, and have our own dogs, we are unfortunately unable to accept pets.
- PLEASE ENQUIRE FOR SPECIAL PRICE FOR STAYS LONGER THAN 3 DAYS or that family holiday experiencing 'life on the farm'.
Selby offers a unique farming experience and is perfect for a romantic getaway, time with the family, meeting with the girls for some chill time, spending time with some mates or just to be by yourself.
Selby is a great place to explore & there is plenty to see and do. The property has a variety of walking tracks (with maps provided) & your hosts, Ron and Andrea will be able to direct you to the best areas of the property to discover.
There is a unique collection of flora and fauna including the Rankins Springs orchid, wattles, drooping casuarinas etc. The native wildlife we have in our hills is AMAZING.... kangaroos, wallabies, emus etc and the birdlife is so abundant - you might even be lucky enough to spot the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo or Mallee fowl.
You will also have the opportunity to meet some of our pet sheep, working dog Zeke, alpacas & perhaps our peacock Alan.
Bring your own bike (with puncture proof tyres) and take a leisurely ride around the property - breathing in some of that fabulous country air or join in some of the general chores, feeding chooks, dogs, lambs, chip a few weeds,... there is always plenty to do!!
