The Gwydir Carapark and Thermal Pools has been operating since 1979 and is enjoying a strong growth with the increasing number of travellers. Over the past few years we have installed 2 round Artesian Thermal Pools and a 25m Cool pool on site, bringing the total number of pools to 5. The pool area is open daily for our guests from 7am to 10pm.
We have a range of accommodation to choose from including our brand new 1 and 2 bedroom motel units accommodation, Cabins, 1 and 2 bedroom Villas, and Caravan powered sites.
The bore was sunk in 1996/97 to a depth of 720m to tap into the Great Artesian Basin to take advantage of the curative and soothing powers of the thermal mineral rich waters. It is because of the continual flow of the water the temperatures of the aters stays the same year round .
This is a regular stop for us on when travelling the Newell Highway. Pools are great. Kiosk and decent meals on site or at the Amaroo pub just down the road. They’ve also opened a park and thermal spa in the old public pool in town. Always clean and tidy. Well worth the stop.

We were going to stay at the Gwydir Caravan Park for a few days and rang up to book. They had a special offer to try their new park not quite finished, so we stayed a week. It was a fantastic week still a big hot artesian pool 35 degrees. Thank you Wally the owner for taking care of us.

Good park with clean facilities. Pools were good and enjoyed a couple of dips. Sites are tight with little space between them. Nearby pub provided great food.

Great park with 4 Thermal Pools of varying temperatures. The pools are included in the camping rates and represents great value. You can dip as many times as you wish. The park resembles a mobile retirement home at times with all the grey nomads camping and soaking away their aches and pains in the pools. Shop on site and pub across the road. Easy check in and friendly staff. Clean facilities. Extremely well lit at night time with huge spotlights.

Very nice park and facilities, but new management are related to Ned Kelly. We arrived when park was full. Was given a spot between two workman's sheds on rocks. Same tariff as grassed areas. Treated like lepers by staff. Never again.

In 50 years of caravanning this is one of the worst parks we have stayed at. No maintenance done for years, dirty, no hot water in showers, no rubbish bins, drive through sites too narrow to put awning up and was kept awake all night with next caravan with tv on all night as sites so close together . Pools were good but not worth staying for them.

This place is amazing. The sites are narrowish. I am not sure there would be enough room to fully extend an awning without encroaching on your neighbour. But they are long. I think you could easily get two Motorhomes on one site.
The amenities are clean and modern. There is a sign on the door saying no mask, no entry. Everyone I saw ignored it.
It is a good idea to take garbage bags. Bins are like hens teeth.
But the real attraction is the tribe thermal pools. They are clean and comfortable and so relaxing.
