The Pumphouse Camping Ground was officially opened at Binnaway's Big Weekend in February, 2010. The budget camping grounds are set by the banks of the Castlereagh River in Binnaway. Toilet and shower facilities (disabled access) are open 24 hours a day for a minimal cost. There are coin-operated hot showers (five minute duration), plenty of shady FREE unpowered camping spots, along with eight powered sites available for a small fee.
Set up and relax in this charming country village and throw some locally produced beef or lamb on the electric barbecues provided. Hot showers cost $2 per 5 minutes ($2 coin accepted only). Maximum 3 night stay.
Facilities currently closed due to people emptying their cassettes into the toilet and ruining the septic system. Need to be self contained to stay. There is still water and power available.
There is indeed an old pumphouse which seems to have been used to draw town water from the adjacent Castlereagh River for the town. There are nice flat sites in quiet area plenty of room with a walk through parkland to the town centre.
There are several (6-8?) powered sites and lots of unpowered. Quite good flush toilets and showers.
Sites are free with power $2 for about 3 hours hot showers $2 and a donation is requested.
Locals maintain it very well we found a blocked toilet on arrival rang the contact number and left a message and within an hour or so someone had fixed it. Well done Binnaway!
Thank you Binnaway. What a lovely spot PLUS there is a lovely lady living just up the road who can provide doggy day care if you want to visit nearby National Parks. Check the local notice board for her contact details. Our little dog had a great playdate day with Hilary and her dogs in her home. A definite recommendation from us.
Free undercover BBQ and tables. Water walk to Supermarket, Takeaway, 2 pubs. Magnificent town, huge cheap meals at Pubs and local Club has meals as well. This RV Park was started in 2010 so they are way ahead of a lot of towns, beautifully run by volunteers. Nearby Pilliga and Warrumbungles National Parks.
Nice town with great pub/Cafe. The camp site is in a nice area with all the facilities you need (toilets and $2 showers, free BBQ) But the Cats Head burs are killers. Don't think of walking around in thongs and the poor dogs, ever step is another bur.
This is an excellent camp site and is very popular. The town has done itself proud with coin operated showers and power if you want them. It is close enough to the shops to walk.
This is our second visit to the site but the first time we have stayed. This is a great example of what a town can provide with coin operated showers and power if required and excellent facilities. The only thing lacking in the town is a Dump Point. Found the local business people very friendly.
