Gnoorea Point or 40-Mile Beach offers nature based camping with great fishing from the beach. For off-shore fishing there is also a natural boat ramp. 

The camping area has public toilets for day users and sullage points for campers. There is a 28-day limit for camping, and fees apply between 1 May and 30 September. Please note that no drinking water is available on site. For more information about camping at Gnoorea Point, please contact the Karratha Visitor Centre.

Gnoorea Point is accessed via the Forty Mile Beach Road, off the North-West Coastal Highway.

On your way to Gnoorea Point visit Miaree Pool, approximately 30 kilometres south of Karratha off the North-West Coastal Highway. This is a popular and pretty swimming hole on the Maitland River with shaded picnic tables and a 24-hour rest area. Miaree Pool is also a good fishing spot.

Beautiful views of the water and lots of space. Dump points easily accessible. Rubbish bins as well. Off season October - April is a 3-day limit (in 28 day period) however it’s free. Can’t ask for more.

Turn off the North West Coastal Highway at the gas plant, there is good water available at the gas plant for a gold coin donation, donations go the RFDS. The gravel road is good, just a few corrugations. A lovely relaxing camp with secluded sites if you want them. There plenty of rubbish bins that are emptied on Thursdays. Current cost, July 2016, is $15 a night or $90 for 7 nights. Pay the caretaker at the site. The camp is run by the Karratha Shire.

Love this camp. Still $15 per night. Friendly caretakers, even had some fish given to us. We were there in September this year, and the road was really good.

This camp is lovely. You do pay during winter months. Caretaker on site. Fees are 15.00 per night. Water is available at gas plant for a gold coin donation. Dump point and toilet available at camp. We chose the southern side for our camp as there was a bit more privacy with larger sites.
