In 1875, The Royal Hotel Harrisville was originally established as the Harrisville Inn by Margaret Wholey Dunn, whom was one of Australia’s first female licensees. The original hotel serviced the local cotton and beef industries. It was one of the earliest hotels in the region before later burning down in 1916.  After being rebuilt in 1920, the hotel has since been the source of many paranormal stories.

The Royal Hotel Harrisville has now evolved into the perfect destination for your weekend getaway or special occasion celebration.

Food and Drink

There are very few pubs left where people can have a hearty country meal by the wood stove in the restaurant on a chilly winter’s evening, or sit out on the veranda and overlook the town or country side with a cool breeze in summer.

The dining room displays magnificent local art that will also take you back in time. In addition, a treasured painted mural encapsulates the owners’ travel experiences and memories from their time in outback Queensland and the Northern Territory. Featured above the restaurant’s picture rail, this 10 metre mural provides a talking point for patrons.

In summer you will find all the French doors open and enjoy the beauty of the rose garden that depicts a country tea house. This country hotel has been restored to its former glory that often leaves visitors commenting on its beauty and the warm and friendly atmosphere without the noise of pokies.
