Wynyard Showgrounds

This is an excellent overnighter with a short walk to town. Last night there were 6 rigs here so plenty of spare room. The local cricket team was here practicing but none of them parked on the bitumen.

This is relatively small hard surface area in one section of the showgrounds probably room for 20 rigs if parked properly. It is within walking distance of the town main street. When we were camped there there was an unofficial caretaker living across the road who came over and made us most welcome - a nice touch. Town has all the necessary things needed to restock.

This is not an RV friendly town. Self contained caravans not permitted at showgrounds, this would be the only showgrounds in Australia with this attitude ??

Stood place to stay. The site is used by the cricket club and gymnasium, and as a parking area for 3 community buses, so it is quite busy, with vehicles coming and going. Wynyard is a fabulous place with all facilities of a modern town, although small. TV reception exceptional, Optus and Vodafone reception good. I wouldn't like to see too many larger vehicles or ones towing cars try to use the site as it would not cope. No caravans are permitted.
