This free overnight rest area is large and is set off the highway. It is a large recent purpose built bitumen area that has different sections for trucks, motorhomes and cars. It has no shade available. Access is on Rixs Creek Road.
Here you will find toilets with disabled access, covered picnic tables and dogs are permitted.
Good hard stand for an overnight stay. Far enough off the highway to be reasonably quiet.
only one here tonight, people stopping to use the loo's,have stopped a few times. 2.5 hrs run into daughter's place tomorrow now !
Pretty good for an area which is shared with trucks. All bitumen area so its clean under foot. Truck versus caravan and car parking areas are clearly separately marked. Most spots are uneven so you need to park up to suit your rig configuration. Unisex stainless steel toilets are clean. Rest area is about 300 metres away from and parallel with the New England Highway and there is a constant traffic noise but its all in an 80 kmh zone. Because it is necessary to turn off up a side road to access the camp, there aren't too many high speed drive through vehicles which often happens at road side rest areas.
