McNamara Park

Free Camping - New South Wales

Favourite

This free camping area has a maximum stay of 72 hours. It is very large with a choice of full sun or shady grassy camp unpowered sites. It is a short walk to the local stores, tavern, petrol station and post office as well.

It is quite pretty really and there is plenty of space so no one has to be on top of each other.....bliss!

Here you will find toilets with disabled access, picnic tables and dogs are permitted.

Top spot to stay, taking a road less travelled out of Sydney. A nice drive from the M1 which delivers you to the Hunter wine country - Margan cellar door and restaurant is a 10-15 minute walk. Lots of space with a mix of shade (with branch drop warnings on old gums) and open space. Well maintained toilets with wash basins but only two of them so in the wine tourist season they might be in high demand.

This is a very large free camp with plenty of choices to stay, so no one has to be on top of each other. There is a male and a female toilet that is suitable for disabled use. There isn't much road noise unless you camp on the top part right next to the road. We were there on the weekend and it wasn't any trouble at all. You do feel safe here. There is no water here at the park, however there is a tap next to the memorial fire station 50 metres away at the information board semi-circle which is town water. The village store 50 metres away, has a great selection of items and it's also the bottle shop, takeaway food and service station. There are a few mozzies here so wear repellant if you wish. They do have signs up not to park directly under the trees as branches can drop.

Lovely place to stay with our furkids, toilets excellent, very quiet. Sadly locals let dogs off leash and pitbulls are very scary, otherwise great.

This is an excellent spot for those who want to enjoy what the Hunter Valley Vineyards have to offer.
