The Cooee Point Reserve will be temporarily closed to allow maintenance to the rock sea wall.

The works will improve the wall to prevent coastal erosion.

This free camping area allows self- sufficient campervans and caravans to stay at no charge for a maximum of two nights. There is a maximum of 2 permits per year. Campers can obtain a permit from the council office or the Makers' Workshop visitor information centre. It is absolute beachfront and just gorgeous really.

Be aware: Council officers check that the campers at Cooee Point have a permit, are fully serviced and parked in the signed area. In the event a vehicle that is not fully serviced is detected, council officers will ask the campers to move on.

Please do not stay longer than five nights as people have been taking advantage and staying much longer and it's caused unrest for the locals. Sorry, no pets allowed here.

Basic camping with few facilities but right on the water and Burnie nearby. Can be windy. Quite pleasant to have the occasional train tootle by.

A nice clean site, water, dump point,4 ks from Burnie, room for 35/40 if parked correctly. Permit required from Information Centre cost $0 max 5 days. A good base to visit local area.

Can be noisy with cattle trucks and local hoons kicking up dust. The view is nice but that is about all this place has going for it. There are better places.

Hi baggy green there are very occasional trains past here ! There has been no trains west of Burnie for about 20 years

Another location right on the water with lovely views and lots of space. Lots of level sites. Dump point somewhat dated but works.

We have just stayed here for 2 nights in our fifth wheeler towed by our F250 (14.2 metres overall). Plenty of room to get in and out of and turn around. Right on the water. Close driving distance (about 2.2 kms) to town centre and Burnie Visitor Information Centre where you get the camping permit for your stay up to 5 nights (must display it in your caravan window). A few take away shops within walking distance. Would definitely come back and would highly recommend to others.
