Kinkuna Camping Zone - Burrum Coast National Park

National Park - Queensland

Camping area features: Camping is permitted behind fragile foredunes, just a short walk to the water and beach.

Location: Behind the beach foredunes in the defined camping zone in Kinkuna section.

Access: The camping area can be reached by high clearance 4WD vehicle only. It is not recommended for low clearance trailers, caravans or buses. During wet conditions, access roads may be closed as they pass through low lying, swampy areas. Use only established access points across the dunes to reach the beach. Driving on sand requires some care to protect both you and the fragile sand environment.

Number of sites: 40 (not individually numbered).

Campsites are suitable for: Tent camping beside your car and 4WD camper trailers.

Campsite surfaces: Sand.

Facilities: There are no facilities at Kinkuna.

Open fires: Allowed (except when fire bans apply) but fuel stoves are recommended.

Generators: Permitted. Be considerate of other campers and keep noise to a minimum.

Essentials to bring: Food, drinking water, fuel, medical supplies, portable toilet, rubbish bags and insect repellent. Fuel stoves are recommended. If you choose to use a cooking fire, you must bring your own milled timber for use as firewood—it is an offence to collect firewood in the national park.

Bookings: book online or learn about our camping booking options. (The closest over-the-counter booking agent to the park is Woodgate Beach General Store.)

Camping tags are available from information shelters at the southern and northern road entrances to the camping area at Kinkuna. Record your booking number on your camping tag.
