Yaraka Township Caravan Site

Private Campground - Queensland

Favourite

The small township of Yaraka is nestled between Mesa Hills with the backdrop being the Yang Yang Ranges that offer unique and spectacular picture post card scenery – a photographer’s delight with their craggy escarpments that are a cacophony of hues and colours at sunrises and sunsets. The gem that Yaraka can offer to visitors is the nearby Mt Slowcombe with a tar sealed road winding its way to the top making it easily accessible even for cars.

The Yaraka township offers low cost powered caravan sites, a swimming pool and amenities next to a beautifully maintained and cared for park with BBQ and ample covered seating with a tennis court and children’s playground. Yaraka also has a small shop selling basic needs and fuel and mechanical services and a hotel that has accommodation and meals.

If you decide to take advantage of the free camping and electricity sites and would like to show your appreciation we suggest a contribution to the Flying Doctor is very worthy of consideration and you can find a donation box in the ablution block complex.

Totally agree with the previous review. Chris & Gerry at the Hotel next door make you feel like you are visiting friends and being welcomed into their home. There are 12 power points from 3 power boxes in the caravan park so you need to juggle your parking so they can all be used. Fees of $3 per night, powered or unpowered, are collected by the hotel on behalf of the council. Don’t miss Chris’s sunset tour of Mt Slowcombe.

Friendly publicans next door make this excellent campground a ‘must do’ location. Very clean toilets and hot showers, power (limited) and water all for $3 a night. Local store opens rarely so fuel up before you get here. No longer a coffee shop here either as noted in the description.

Great spot to relax and explore the surrounding town area, very friendly town and hotel. Dump point available 300 metres away at the fire shed.

Yaraka is a must see destination. it is a piece of the Australian bush life that has not been spoiled by commercialism. Wonderful facilities and great level sites with a cement slab alongside. Council Fees are $3 a night or $15 a week payable at the hotel. The Yaraka Hotel serves great meals and whatever you fancy to drink. Hosts Gerry and Chris will make you feel like family and you never know who will drop in. We ended up staying for a week because of rain and the state of the road out but couldnt think of a better place to be stranded. We are going back when we can drive out and visit some of the interesting places around.
