New Norfolk Caravan Park

Caravan Park - Tasmania

Located just 36kms North West of Hobart, the New Norfolk Caravan Park is situated on the banks of the beautiful Derwent River.

The park has 40 Powered Sites — 28 are drive through sites; the other 12 are suited for motorhomes and small caravans.

There are also 25 unpowered site spaces in the park, all of which are grass with plenty of trees to provide shade

The Town of New Norfolk was settled in 1808 and spreads over both sides of the Derwent River with the main shopping district a five minute walk from the Caravan Park. The town is home to many antique stores as well as the oldest continuously licensed Hotel in Australia — The Bush Inn.

From the New Norfolk Caravan Park there is a popular walking track that follows the Derwent River through the wetlands and to Tynwald Park where you can see wildlife such as wild ducks and platypus. The River itself is a great fishing spot.

There are many attractions within the surrounding areas that are appropriate for people of all ages such as the historical Salmon Ponds, Mount Field National Park and Historic Willow Court.

This is a nice park on the banks of the Derwent River. We were able to park outside the park proper without power for quite reasonable costs. Park is conveniently situated to explore the area. Facilities were adequate but not up-market. Park manager was very helpful and nice walks in the adjoining parklands along the river.

Council owned and a good park. Helpful caretaker, lovely level site. Timed showers (great hot water) with toilets in seperate building to showers. Close to shops, with Derwent River across from the park.
