Further to my last review written before dark on the day, the description advises, Randomly patrolled by Park Rangers, but all I can say is they are not doing their job. The night we stayed there there was 6 motorhomes, caravan and 19 backpacker vehicles which could not be considered self contained by any means. There was loud music, door slamming and voices in the night till 2am. When I awoke at 5am to take the dog for a walk, there were chairs, bottles, rubbish and various camping gear everywhere. This is not my idea of a RVFT camp site so this has been our first and last visit to this camp site. Not impressed and if the town wants to attract the RV traveller they will need to police the facility much better than what they are now.
I want to share about a park that is 35 minutes drive from the Gold Coast and 35Km from the heart of Brisbane city. Its free and its been provided by the rate payers of Logan city. One of the reasons the council did this was to stop vandalism and graffiti etc in this park. It seems to be working. Just down the road is a big shopping centre and the Beenleigh train station to catch a quick trip into the city avoiding hefty parking fees there. Please use this park for up to three days. Its a great place to do day trips by train to the city and see the sights or as a launching point for daily trips to the Gold Coast.
1. parking area
3. Picnic tables
4. Green grass next to the river.
5. DUMP point
6. potable water point
7. Big shopping centre next door.
8. Walk to the train to go to the city
There is much more information about this facility and attractions and shops around it. Find them on the CMCA forum under Great places and interesting destinationsBrisbane
What a shocker, full of backpackers none of which were self-contained. It could be a great spot, dump point, shops, however council doesn’t enforce their rules or get the rangers to do their job. Not a safe place in my opinion.
What a mess. Full of backpackers and non self-contained vans. 3 motorhomes and 2 were hire units and were spewing soapy water onto onto the bitumen from showers. Cannot see this 1 lasting sadly. l was tired but did not stay.
We will leave tomorrow being our third day here. It is a good place to stop for a few days. It is relatively small although if people park with consideration plenty of vehicles can be accommodated. It is full by mid afternoon and the backpackers continue to stream in and will often park other vehicles in. Most of the campers are good and there is no rubbish being left around. The usual backpacker problem of the hand washing basin being used as a kitchen sink is an issue as they object to anyone wanting to wash their hands. I agree that the self contained requirement is not enforced at all and it appears as though some backpackers assume the site is for them and not for caravans. It is an interesting dynamic.
The local Police do make plenty of visits in marked and unmarked vehicles which obviously helps keep the behaviour in check. We would certainly stay again remembering to arrive before midday if possible.
Great spot you need to arrive before 5.00 pm to get a spot, after that all the back packer vehicles arrive, of which there are a lot. We were there @ 3.00 pm shortly after marked police car came for a drive right though the site then about an hour later an unmarked police car did the same drive through, good to see their presence.
Yes we will be back again.
Great spot, highway noise yes, didn't bother us, 3 motorhomes & approx 15 to 20 backpacker vehicles all well behaved. Police did a drive through at about 8.00am. 4 Council workers came about 11.00 am picked up rubbish (not that there was much) & also photographed all our number plates & photographed plus put a sticker on one vehicle don't know details. Another council worker cleaned the toilet block. We will be back to stay here again.
Great spot to stop. Potable water that only allowed small amounts to be taken, lucky we didn't need any. Mostly used by non self contained vehicles, but they were mostly quiet and clean. Toilet block and bins, so they didn't have any reason to leave a mess. The road noise is the only real downside.
Great little spot, some highway noise but bearable. Can stay 3 days.
We were very impressed with this spot. Was shared by motorhomes, wiz bangs, caravans and 5th wheelers. Clean stainless steel flushing toilets (all with plenty of toilet paper), rubbish bins and good access to the dump point, although it's starting to get a bit smelly. Saw little evidence of grey water dumping and free new new BBQs
Dropped in here for an overnighter, on the way back from the rally in Canberra. The area is fairly level and gavelled, so should be OK in wet weather. It is obvious that some of the vehicles are not self contained, as is required by the signposting. Dump Point is outside the camping area proper and has good access. The park and lake are good sites for walking the dog or just relaxing.
Decided to come here for a shakeout trip after purchasing our 5er. Only came from the Gold Coast, so not far.
Very impressed with this free stopover (max 3 nights). You have to be self contained and it is popular with all types of vehicles that people travel in. It is very close to the motorway so can be a little noisy, but there are toilets, that are clean and a dump point, so that’s great. A fairly large shopping centre is only three minutes walk away and has a Woolies, cafe, bakery etc etc.
We felt safe for the three days we stayed and will come again.
