Lochaber Tourist Park

Free Camping - Queensland

Please note:  this brand new free camping ground opened 1st June 2016 for self contained motorhomes and caravans only.

The Loakes family have opened their family property "Lochaber" to the public for the first time to enjoy the history that the property has to offer.  Lochaber is located 25kms north of the Mundubbera turnoff and 15kms south of Eidsvold.  We have great bush walking tracks approx 35 klms , aboriginal hand paintings within walking distance of the campground, 4WD tracks , excellent birdwatching with numerous species of parrots and eagles everywhere, rock climbing and fossicking for gold in the hills and creek.

If we're home and available, we offer guided tours around the 2500 acres as well as the opportunity to watch cattle mustering at different times.  We also have swimming in Lochaber Creek when there is water in it or just 2 klms away we have the Burnett River which offers swimming and fishing.

On occasions, we also have camp drafting and rodeo events in our own arena as well as concerts with a country and western rock flavour.

Self contained motorhomes and self contained caravans only are welcome to stay at this beautiful property as there are no toilets available.  Basic showers are available however.  Facilities also include drinking water, camp fires are permitted, BBQ and picnic tables.  The Loakes family also allow well behaved pets to stay here as well.  You also have the choice of powered and unpowered sites.  They also have some powered sies and some only with water.

Campers can come in and camp wherever they like in the marked areas upon arrival.  Donations are appreciated and there is an honesty box available on site.

Just note the email address has changed: Ronald.loakes@gmail .com

We received a very friendly welcome by the owners and told to use the power and water which had been laid out in a flat grassy large area. We will stop here next time we are passing this way.
