Log Dump Camping Area - Tuan State Forest

Turn off Tinnabar Road and follow the road until you reach the campsites.

Camping Area Features: creek-side camping on the banks of Kauri Creek. A popular creek fishing spot. This is the only camping area in Tuan State Forest with a toilet. Boat ramp facilities are also available.

Location: on the edge of Kauri Creek, close to Great Sandy Strait. From the Cooloola Coast Road—Tinnanbar Road junction travel 7km to the signed camping area turnoff and then another 1km to the camping area.

Access: By vehicle: the camping area can be reached by conventional vehicle in dry conditions and 4WD. Access roads within the park are gravel roads. The condition of Tinnanbar Road varies. Tie loads down well to cope with corrugations and drive slowly in wet conditions. It is accessible for trailers, caravans, buses and motor homes.

By boat: the camping area is accessible from the Great Sandy Strait and Kauri Creek. The nearest boat ramps are located at Tinnanbar and Tin Can Bay. Consult boating safety charts to access camping areas by boat.

Number of sites: open area without separately defined sites. Maximum group size 15 people.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car; caravans; camper trailers; (small) motor homes; groups.

Camp site surface: sand and dirt.

Facilities: hybrid (flushing) toilets.

Open fires: allowed in fire rings only (except when fire bans apply). Fuel stoves are recommended.

Generator use: allowed but you must be present at campsite while generator is running.

Essentials to bring: drinking water, rubbish bags, first-aid kit, insect repellent, fuel stove or clean milled fire-wood, portable toilet. 

Bookings: book online, over-the-counter or by phone.

Mobile phone coverage: intermittent at camping area. Available at main road turnoff.
