Once you visit the Mt Barney Lodge campsite you’ll be sure to agree that it is one of the best camping spots in Queensland. Where else can you drive directly onto a grassed and shaded campsite with campfire facilities, creek frontage, a swimming hole and stunning mountain views.

This place is a gem. Staff pleasant and helpful. Camped here for a few nights mid week, the place was very quiet basically had the camp ground to myself. Lots of wildlife about. The camp grounds are clean and they recycle food scrapes and collect recyclable cans and bottles. Walk to Yellow Pinch lookout and view Mt Barney up close or the more adventurous and fitter will trek up the mountain. The amenities at the lodge are very clean but be aware there are only two toilets and two showers each for males and females. I visited in August 2019 and they haven’t had rain out there for a few months so the camping area is dry and dusty but this did not detract from the beauty of the area. Also can’t light a fire at present due to mandatory fire ban initiated by Rural Fire service.

Well kept facilities with good open area for unpowered camping with fire pits and water. Some beautiful walks from the camp site.
