Bunyip Park is located in Koolunga, a small town situated in the mid-north of South Australia. The towns name is an Aboriginal word derived from the Ngadjuri tribe and means ‘red banks’, in reference to the banks on the Broughton River nearby. Today, Koolunga's main economy is derived from canola and cereal cropping, with sheep farming to a lesser extent.
