Bottle Bay Campground - Francois Perion NP

National Park - Western Australia

Francois Peron National Park has four bush camping areas with basic facilities (toilets and gas barbecues) at South Gregories, Gregories, Bottle Bay and Big Lagoon. A fifth camping area exists at Herald Bight with camping available along the soft sandy beaches. A toilet is provided at this site. All camping areas are accessible only by high-clearance four-wheel drive only. Tyre pressures must be reduced for the soft sand conditions. Caravans are not recommended due to the narrow and soft sand tracks.

Bookings do not apply at this campground. It operates on a first come - first served basis.

Park entry fees apply.

Fees are payable at the self-registration station at the entry to the park.

The park was once a pastoral station, and you can reach the Peron Homestead by two-wheel drive (entry fees are payable) to experience what life would have been like on a remote sheep station. Beyond the homestead the park is only accessible to high- clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles (Subarus and all-wheel-drive vehicles are not suitable).

A high-clearance four-wheel drive is needed to visit Peron`s scenic coastline with dramatic contrasts of red cliffs, blue water and white beaches. Tyre pressures need to be reduced before travelling north from the homestead on the soft sandy tracks. From the cliffs of Cape Peron and the lookouts at Skipjack Point visitors may see bottlenose dolphins playing, dugongs feeding, green and loggerhead turtles surfacing for air and many species of rays gliding past just beneath the surface.
