Glastonbury Creek Camping Area - Brooyar State Forest

Turn off Greendale Road and follow the unsealed road to your choice of campsite.

Brooyar State Forest west of Gympie features a variety of forest types, panoramic views from a high cliff-top lookout and cool rainforest creeks. Camp with a tent, trailer or van in the open grassy area of Glastonbury Creek camping area fringed by shady rainforest trees.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.

Camping area features: Open grassy area at the base of a hill. Main activities include exploring the surrounding forest on foot and by vehicle, abseiling nearby, relaxing, watching birds and wildlife. Note: High tension powerlines cross 40m above this camping area.

Location: On the south-east edge of Brooyar State Forest alongside Glastonbury Creek.

Access: Conventional vehicles, trailers, caravans and buses access is from the southern entrance. Take the Gympie—Woolooga Road and turn right into Diggins Road and onto Greendale Road. Follow the signs to the camping area, on the right just past the park entrance. This access route includes sections of unsealed roads.

All other roads within the park, including the road to Point Pure lookout, are unsuitable for conventional vehicles, caravans and trailers.

Alternative access for four-wheel-drive vehicles only is available from the north. Head 10km north of Gympie along the Bruce Highway, then turn left onto the Wide Bay Highway and continue 7.8km, then turn left onto Peterson Road. Follow the signs to the camping area, located on the left 2km past the park entrance.

Number of sites: Sites are not numbered. Maximum capacity for the camping area is 120 people.

Campsites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car; caravans; camper trailers; small and large motor–homes and large groups.

Campsite surface: Grass.

Facilities: Fire rings, composting toilets and non-potable water.

Open fires: Allowed—except when fire bans or prohibitions apply—in fire rings only, but fuel stoves are recommended.

Generators: Not permitted

Essentials to bring: Drinking water, a fuel stove for cooking, rubbish bags (bins are not provided), insect repellent and sunscreen. If you wish to use the fire rings bring your own firewood (untreated mill off-cuts).
