Washpool camping reserve is situated approx 15Kms west of Warwick, on the Leslie Dam has been one of Queensland's most popular freshwater destinations for many years.
Fishing
The local fish stocking group have worked tirelessly to stock large numbers of Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Murray Cod to bolster the natural populations of Spangled Perch and Eel-Tailed Catfish.Golden Perch dominate most catches for lure / fly anglers, while Silver Perch and Eel-Tailed Catfish (dewfish) are more of a bait fishing prospect.
There are many large boulders around the fringes and some standing timber in the upper reaches of Sandy Creek so care should be taken when navigating in these areas.A Stocked Impoundment Permit (SIP) is required to fish at Leslie Dam (Lake Leslie).A no fishing zone is in place at the dam wall.
Boating
There are no boating restrictions on Lake Leslie. There is concrete boat launching ramp provided not far from the dam wall. When water levels are low boats can still be launched from this are with some care. A four wheel drive may be required.Alternatively, boats may be launched from the Washpools reserve, however a four wheel drive is recommended here.
