THIS SITE IS ALSO A CMCA RV FRIENDLY DESTINATION.

Cape Northumberland Camp Site is located near the town of Port MacDonnell, 25 km from Mount Gambier. This is a lovely area to visit, offering stunning coastlines and natural beauty.

The camp site itself offers RV tourists with self-contained vehicles parking for up to 24 hours, free of charge.  Toilets, bins, barbecue facilities and potable water are located close by in town. Pets on leads are also permitted. Please note, parking only available at sign posted areas.

Within close proximity to the southernmost port in South Australia, there is plenty to see and do nearby. Visitors can enjoy a variety of water sports such as fishing, boating, surfing, snorkelling or sailing.

Cost: Nil charge

Parking: Self-contained vehicles only, 24hrs, pets on lead, mobile phone coverage, close by in town there is bins, toilets, covered seating, BBQ, water.

Please note that camping is only at sign posted areas.

A little bit of confusion as to where and where not to camp. Trust your instincts and do the right thing and all should be ok. We spoke to some locals and they stated you can rest overnight pretty much anywhere appropriate east of town. Police and Rangers do patrol but they didn’t interfere with our plans. Good stop with friendly locals. Excellent coffee in town. Bike walk trail from old lighthouse ruins lookout into town. Toilets bins in town.

Very windy, but enjoyed staying in the glow of the lighthouse beam. Flattest spot in top right corner. Good quiet overnighter but check weather.

There are actually two designated RV overnight sites in this area as detailed on the Port Macdonnell information brochure available from local town information visitor centres. Only the nthn site is signposted for RVs and is probably the site mentioned in the earlier review. It is located on a cliff top overlooking the wild sthn ocean where waves can be seen breaking over in-shore reefs and lobster boats tending their pots. This has to be one of the most spectacular overnight RV sites in Australia!
