Just to clarify, there is no indication Longwood Recreation Reserve is only for Self Contained Vehicles (SCV). 'Leave No Trace' is required, however SCVs are not listed as a requirement.

Situated between Euroa and Seymour (about 1.5 hours north of Melbourne), I have dubbed Longwood, Victoria's answer to Jugiong, NSW. About 3 kms off the Hume Hwy, it certainly has a lot to offer. The donation 'Freedom Camping' area is brilliant, flat to undulating, there is room for many RVs and campers, it has one 24/7 immaculate kept septic flushing toilet, water is available (but not for hooking up to), no power, at this time, no dump point - but hopefully that will change in the future if the demand and viability is demonstrated. It is a place I could imagine staying the whole permitted 72 hours - far enough from the Hume Hwy not to hear the road noise and far enough from the rail line not to be unduly disturbed by the fairly infrequent trains. For those who like BBQs, walking, tennis and golf.... it is all there. Spend some time in town checking out the history, the gem shop, the general store and the award winning historic White Hart Hotel (note: closed Monday + Tuesday) - all within a short flat walk from the camp area. Longwood has so much going for it, at the foothill of the Strathbogie Ranges you'll find great drives - history and nature is in overload, along with excellent local wineries, craft breweries, restaurants, and Nagambie Lake etc. - all within a hop skip and a jump. Longwood really is an ideal staging post to a dreamland of things to do and see. You will find the 'CARAVAN DONATION BOXES' in the local businesses, and also in the campground toilet - please support the local businesses and also donate generously.?? PS: For those going to, or coming from, Tassie, Longwood is an easy drive to and from Port Melbourne to board, or alight from the 'Spirit of Tasmania'.
