Lake King Tavern Motel and Caravan Park

Caravan Park - Western Australia

Favourite

Built in 1987 the Lake King Tavern is a beautiful rammed earth building with cathedral ceilings. The tavern is light and open, and features a  straw ceiling and huge Oregon trusses. The bar boasts a great selection of beer and wine, and the restaurant has a full menu of Australian  pub cuisine plus specials changing daily. In winter there is a large open fire roaring and leather couches to relax and get cosy upon.

The motel is a separate building with modern, light and open units, and large clean bathrooms. The units are semi self catered with TV, fridge, toaster, and tea/coffee making facilities.

Lake King is situated perfectly for a stopover on the drive from Perth to Esperance. To the North is Hyden and Wave Rock, to the South is Ravensthorpe/Hopetoun and the Fitzgerald River National Park and beaches. To the East is the Rabbit Proof Fence and the wildflowers of The Frank Hann and Peak Charles National Parks. West is the salt lake system the town is named after.

The tavern and motel is a true oasis, with most guests commenting they can't believe this great building is located here. But don't tell everybody - its one of WA's best kept secrets!!

The on-site caravan offers travellers very clean and top amenities. The park features powered sites which are only a short walk to the Tavern. Travellers staying in the caravan park have access to showers and the kitchen.

We stopped at the roadhouse and used the rest area for a coffee break. Popular with road trains. The tavern at the crossroads looks interesting and spacious, next time maybe.

Medium size caravan park ($10 per night unpowered) in Lake King, WA with good facilities. Sandy/dirt base with some shade. Flushing toilet, showers, potable water and power, bins, BBQ, camp kitchen and laundry. Weak Telstra reception but no Optus or TV. Suited as a multi-night stay. Quiet and peaeful. Walking distance to tavern with good food (pay for sites at tavern also).

Level sites, which have campfire on site thanks to iron ring, Water & power easy access. Clean amenities with disabled shower. Shade with drive through sites. Modern tavern somewhat of a walk if mobility is restricted.
