Edeowie Station is a family owned and operated working sheep and cattle station, situated on the western side of the Wilpena Pound formation in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia. It has been owned by the Nutt family for forty years, currently run by Leonard and Sharon and daughter Nikki.
At 265 square kilometres, Edeowie runs Merino sheep and Hereford cattle, as well as offering tourist accommodation, camping and access to Edeowie and Bunyeroo Gorges.
Brachina Hut: The Brachina Hut is situated on the bank of the Brachina Creek, a few kilometres from the western side of Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park and the Brachina Gorge Geological Trail. It was originally the homestead of the Brachina lease, before that was amalgamated with Edeowie in the 1950s. A two room stone building, it offers "camping with a roof" with eight beds, plenty of space to roll out swags, a camp fire ring, an inside fire place, shower with donkey hot water, and long drop toilet a short walk down the creek.
Camping: Three bush camp sites named after the three falls of the Edeowie Gorge are equipped with camp fire rings and a shared long drop toilet. Kanalla is suited for large groups, caravans, camper trailers and tents. Glenora and Malloga are smaller sites that can accommodate up to two vehicles with campers. Hot shower available at the shearing shed.
Edeowie House: Edeowie House offers accommodation in a private setting. An ideal getaway with all the comforts of home! The fully self-contained house has three bedrooms and sleeps between two and six people. Offering two king size beds and one queen bed, the king beds can be split into singles upon request. All linen, electric blankets, doonas and towels included. The house has ducted evaporative air conditioning and a slow combustion wood heater, for year round comfort no matter the time you choose to visit. Also provided are a television, DVD player, dishwasher, laundry and washing machine. A gas barbecue and camp fire ring are located outside and all firewood provided.
Shearers Quarters: The Shearers’ Quarters are ideal for groups, social clubs or families. Fully self-contained with both gas and wood stoves, three refrigerators, microwave, cooking and eating utensils. There’s a large dining room with ample seating for larger groups. Perfect for groups who wish to get out and explore the area. Relax by the camp fire, enjoy the sunset and the amazing night sky. A separate building consists of ten bedrooms, including two queen rooms, two double rooms and six twin share, there’s enough space for twenty people. All bedrooms have ducted evaporative air conditioning so there’s a cool escape on hot days.
In the original stone building there’s a large bathroom and laundry, containing three showers, a bath and a twin tub washing machine. A smaller separate bathroom contains two showers, two toilets and an automatic washing machine. A further two toilets are located near the bedrooms. A gas BBQ and campfire ring are available outside. All firewood is provided.
