Chinchilla Weir Campground - QLD RVFT

Free Camping - Queensland

This is a lovely bush campground which is suitable for self-sufficient campers and caravanners. Located 9kms from Chinchilla, you will find limited free power, toilets, picnic tables, wood BBQ's and a boat ramp.

You can enjoy boating, water sports, fishing and swimming here. There is a maximum camping period of two nights here .

Facilities upgraded to caravan park standard. Drive through sites with power and fire pits. New amenities. Old camp site still open too for more space. Must be the best free camp facilities we have seen. Noisy on weekends.

For $5 a night to be hooked up to power is great. There are about 8 or 10 powered sites and the $5 is paid into the honesty box at the Information Centre. The grounds are right on the edge if the water is lovely and quiet and has toilets but no showers. Council delivered fire wood. Unable to swim at the moment due to blue green algae. TV reception is perfect but phone and wifi are poor. Recommended for a stopover. See photos.

Have stayed here on a couple of occasions and OK if not wet. It can get very crowded but now that we have our own RV Park in town I would choose that in preference for the peace and quiet and convenience to shops etc.

A much improved free camp site to what it was in 1999. Can't believe free power is available. Huge area for those not needing power. Lovely spot

Excellent very well maintained free camp, only 7kms from Chinchilla. Attractive location on waters edge and very new high quality toilet facilities. Very popular...if you want power you need to be early, but if not, plenty of shady grassed spaces available. Highly recommend.

Very nice spot just stay away in the weekend the hoons come out.

Lovely camp site, plenty of campers crowded around the free power poles and a couple of inconsiderates using their generators!! We camped on a lovely grassed area, great fire (own wood) warm, starry night.....

We have stayed here on two occasions, once in the winter 2 years ago and Sep this year. We really like the quiet pretty site. So does our dog. You have to get there early if you want power. Plenty of room for big rigs.

Great spot by the dam. Have to get there early if you want to hook up to power. Look out for the cheeky apostle birds and native miners begging for food

Beautiful area, Free power. Dams very low at the moment.
