At the halfway point between Mackay and Rockhampton, the site is deemed an ideal place for holiday-makers and regular highway users to stop.
A major refurbishment of the rest area has just been completed. The rest stop has been shielded from headlights and noise so you should actually be able to rest at the site. In addition to upgrading the facility's toilets, lighting and road surface, enough parking spaces for 14 B-double trucks were installed. The site will also operate as a Driver Reviver site from mid-December.
Large flat area with toilets, bins, wood fired BBQs, tap (water must be boiled before drinking), public telephone, tables and benches (some covered). Suitable for large rigs (5-tonne limit). No TV or mobile 'phone reception. Some highway noise. Maximum stay 20 hours

In June, a very busy overnight stop. Caravans with generators, numerous caravans with buckets under, and a few motorhomes stayed the night. Very good toilets to use.
Good grassy areas around the parking area. Some shade.
Separate truck parking and a few bigger motorhomes with towed cars were in there.
Pizza man there to ease the hunger pains.

A very well maintained Rest Area with good level sites on bitumen and some on grass. The truck area is separated from the RV area as are the small cars.
Good facilities but no dump point. Also no TV or mobile phone reception.
Arrive early if you need a long site but up to 7 m vehicles can park in the diagonal front-in places which did not fill up on the night I spent there.
I will definitely be returning to this site.

Still a very popular stop. We only called in for morning tea while heading South and there was hardly a spare site to pull into with mostly Caravaners heading North. It was a non stop procession of RV’s coming in here.
The area is still well maintained.

This is an excellent Rest Area with marked out area for vehicles of all sizes and separate areas for trucks. There are sheltered tables and seating and well maintained grass area to walk the dog. It is fairly close to the road but noise is not much of a problem. There are plenty of taps but water is not drinkable.

We have stopped here many times over the years. Very popular spot, easy to park but usually have to arrive early to get a spot. Today we pulled up at 3.00pm filled up not long after we arrived and at least 10-12 vans came after us and no spaces, although there was car spaces empty.

Lovely spot to stop with good facilities. Unfortunately many staying longer than limited stay making it crowded and although it has many parking bays people are abusing the privilege of campground.

I totally agree with the above report and must say that this RA is probably the best we have ever stayed at however at present water is unavailable and due to it's popularity it is wise to arrive early to obtain a spot.
