This low cost campground offers powered and unpowered sites. Most of the sites are grassy and there is shade available. There is a dump point located nearby in Dunera Way as well. Here you will find toilets, hot showers, water and dogs are permitted. Bookings are not required just turn up!
I couldn't disagree more with the previous review. Being a Big Rig we were also parked near the old toilet block, it's dated but clean. I understand it will be demolished in the new year and replaced with a new toilet block with showers. There is a new toilet block with wonderful hot water showers near the main entrance and they are spotless. It's only a short walk, no problem.
I have stayed at a lot worse, I'd give it 3 1/2 stars. But remember it is a Showground, it has sites for Big Rigs that don't fit in Caravan Parks and horse trailers and travelling stock. It's away from the Highway and a quiet spacious area with power and water. The Caretaker insists that dogs are kept on a leash and kept quite.
Arrived 2pm 6th Sept. Signage stating closed to campers due to Hay Show 9th - 10th September. This was reinforced by a ‘local’ in the grounds.
Basic toilets and hot showers, easy walk into town, plenty of space with optional power. All weather access.
We stayed at this Showground and couldn't disagree more with the previous review. There were a few hours during our stay that water supply was interrupted by a broken pipe down the road, but we didn't experience any dirty water.
Being a Big Rig 19 mtrs long and 17 tonnes we rarely fit into caravan parks so are frequent users of showgrounds. This facility has large level sites with power and water. The toilets near our site are dated and scheduled for demolition after the Hay Races to be replaced by a block with showers and toilets similar to the new amenities block near the Caretakers Cottage
We found the Caretakers friendly and courteous, however they have no tolerance to dogs off leash or barking continuously.
I would recommend this site to all Big Rigs as these facilities are ideal for our vehicles and similar large vehicles traveling with stock.
We had planned to stay at the Sandy Point Reserve free camp, but a few days of cloudy weather meant we needed power to recharge. There was a sheep show on the weekend we were here so we were located to the left of the entry behind some sheds. We had access to water & electricity with only one other van on the night we stayed.
This is the worst showground we have stayed in. The amenities have seen better days old mildewed broken & missing locks & in need of demolishing we chose not to use them. There were other amenities to use but those were also disgusting. The water was brown & ruined our new water filter. The caretaker was pleasant enough but he never mentioned the state of the water. Considering there was potable water available in town we had no reason to think the water would be so dirty. At $20 a night this was poor value for money. We wouldnt stay here again.
