Heron Bend - Overland Corner Conservation Reserve

Free Camping - South Australia

This free bush camp is located on the banks of the Murray River.  It is approx 1.2km west of the Overland Hotel.  It is closed to vehicles after rain and beware of camping under the trees, these branches can be lethal when they fall.  There are no facilities here.  There is a boat ramp here and fishing, walking, canoeing and swimming is popular here.

The Heron's Bend Reserve area is popular for camping and bushwalking and includes the eight-kilometre Overland Corner Walking Trail which takes you past some old Aboriginal campsites. There are some excellent examples of red gum, black box and river coolabah plus several species of mallee and acacia in this area along with cliffs of fossiliferous limestone surmounted by massive oyster beds.

At the GPS co-ordinates turn off Burra-Renmark Road and follow the road to the camping area.
