Lilydale Primitive Camp Ground

Free Camping - New South Wales

Lilydale Campground is one of the primitive campgrounds along with the Clarence Canoe and Kayak Trail. A wonderful place to enjoy the river with swimming, kayaking and fishing some of the highlights. Nestled on the banks of the Clarence River, this campground has spacious sites suitable for caravans, motorhomes, and big rigs. It is also dog friendly but have to be registered and on a leash at all times. Please observe the Crown Land Camping Reserve rules (https://www.industry.nsw.gov.au/lands/access/recreational-use) and be mindful of other camp users and most of all the environment. Most of all, enjoy your stay on the mighty Clarence River.

Great free camp next to the Clarence River. Sealed road all the way in from Grafton. Flush toilets up on the hill about a 100m walk. No problem with 9 meter bus + 6.5m trailer. No drinking water so top up your tank at Copmanhurst (15 klms) There are taps in the local park Can use river water for washing. Telstra phone reception. Very busy long weekend, school holidays, but still plenty of room. I stayed for 10 days. Plenty of bass and eels in the river, also firewood over the bridge, turn right towards the Gorge, drive about 1 km on the left, bring a chainsaw.

Other comments spot on. Access via Copmanhurst on sealed road, while the track from Jackadgery is dirt and tight in places. Very popular, and so the few flat 'choice' spots were taken. Nevertheless, we found a reasonable site. The many flies didn't worry us too much, but at night the area is over-run with Tiger snakes!
