Sandy Cape Recreational Park

Private Campground - Western Australia

10km north of Jurien Bay, access from Indian Ocean Drive to Sandy Cape Recreation Park is via a partially-sealed road, accessible to most conventional vehicles. The information bay is located 6km down the gravel road with the campsite a further 1.5km.

Camp sites at Sandy Cape are subject to a first come first serve basis. There is NO pre-booking of sites and there are no provisions for overflow camping once all sites are full. Camp sites at Sandy Cape will regularly be full during peak periods of use, such as school holidays and long weekends.  Campers can stay for a maximum of 4 nights however extensions can be obtained but only from the Caretaker or the Shire Rangers.

When on site, camp fees can be paid direct to the Caretaker.  Should the Caretaker not be in attendance camp fees can be paid to the Shire Rangers and also at the information bay honesty box. Please retain your receipt. Please note: camp fees for Sandy Cape apply to the entire Land Reserve area #19062. This includes the 4WD-only access areas north and south of the main campsite.

From 1st July 2017, camp fees are $20 per night per campsite for up to 2 adults and 2 children, with additional adults $3 per night and additional children $2 per night.

Please take all rubbish with you. At the Information Bay rubbish bins are provided.

Dogs are permitted in Sandy Cape Recreation Park. When dogs are in the camp grounds and in the swimming area adjacent to the camp grounds dogs are to be on a lead or leash.

There are no permitted areas for the taking, riding or driving of unlicensed vehicles and plated off road vehicles (ORV's) to operate within the entire reserve of Sandy Cape Recreation Park.

Public toilets are available at the camp grounds. The ablutions are long drop self composting toilets.

No drinking water or electricity is available on site.

Please do not dispose of chemical porta-loos down the toilets.

For your convenience a chemical dump easy facility is located next to the information bay.

As limestone cliffs are prevalent on the coastal area it is important to recognise the risks. The Shire of Dandaragan has put together a brochure with reference to this coastal area. Please take the time to read it.

Top spot just 200km from Perth the site has been made much larger with an extra 30+ bays and 6 new toilets. A new camp kitchen is being added and the current Care Takers are very helpful and have a Coffee Van. It has an excellent beach which can have weed throughout the year and a nice walk to a clever lookout over looking the bays.

Really great.

Sandy Cape is a hidden gem. It is more like free camping but you have to pay $20 per night. There are just campsites with BBQs are close by which are in great condition and toilets. Water and power are not available. It is alongside the ocean and it is dog friendly. We stayed here for four nights and went into Jurien to refill our water supply after two nights. We will come back here as it is just so serene and beautiful.

Absolutely loved it! Will be a favourite of ours from now on.

Good location messed up by poor management. Toilets so disgusting we couldn't use them. Warning signs for asbestos on access road and on site. Wouldn't stay there again. 1 night was a night too many.
