This free camping area is located on the banks of the Moonie River. It is large and has lots of shade. Just follow the tracks to the river and choose anywhere to camp. 

There are no facilities here thus suitable for self-contained campers.

Go to the north end of town and turn west past the big concrete silos, travel about 1km and on the left Is a dirt track labeled Barneys beach. About 1km brings you to the Moonie river. Its a bit isolated and rough with grey rutted tracks leading off everywhere. There does not seem to be a formal camp area just park on the tussocks and 4wd ruts. I got in ok with my 28ft and trailer. We like remote, seldom used spots, but not this one.
