The Staircase Range is named after a sandstone escarpment that has naturally formed in the shape of a staircase. See the old wagon road which was cut into the sandstone by pick and crowbar in the early settlement years. A great history lesson and a must see and do while in the Central Highlands. There are no facilities.
Lookout at the top of a hill and easy to miss the access. Surprisingly empty of vans & motorhomes. Surface on the lower area on a bit of a slope. Not much traffic noise. No mobile phone cover. The BBQ has gone missing. No facilities apart from a bin and a picnic shelter.
