Francois Peron National Park features four bush camping areas with basic facilities (toilets and gas barbecues) at South Gregories, Gregories, Bottle Bay and Big Lagoon. A fifth camping area exists at Herald Bight with camping available along the soft sandy beaches. A toilet is provided at this site. All camping areas are accessible by high-clearance four-wheel drives only. Tyre pressures must be reduced for the soft sand conditions. Caravans are not recommended due to the narrow and soft sand tracks.

Bookings do not apply at this campground. It operates on a first come - first served basis.

Fees can be paid at the self-registration station at the entry to the park.


Bush camping, four-wheel driving, walking and beach fishing are popular in the park with swimming and boating popular pastimes in the marine park.


The 45-minute Pastoral Lifestyle walk trail around the Peron Homestead precinct allows visitors to explore the sites and outbuildings of the former pastoral station. The Homestead Precinct also has a gas barbecue, artesian hot tub, grassed lawn area, car park and toilet facilities.


Wanamalu walk trail and cliff top lookouts at Skipjack Point provide spectacular views along the red cliffs and into the Shark Bay Marine Park. Here visitors can watch a diverse array of marine life swim past the point in the clear shallow waters.

Big Lagoon currently closed for renovations. Not stated on ParkStay or DPAW websites. Locked gates rangers have no estimate on re-opening.

Campsite open. Well laid-out camp sites. Picnic area nearby has excellent facilities - covered picnic tables, BBQ, good seating for groups. 4WD road in - soft sandy patches over about 12 km.
