In 1916 Revered Joseph Budge originally built a church hall as a meeting place at Nartha, a 205 mile camp along the Trans Australian Railway. Within a short while the railway camps were disbanding as the rails were finally linked up, the church was dismantled and transferred to Westonia. Services before then were held at the Miners and Mechanics Institute Hall. It was re-erected at Westonia in October the same year. Thursday 22nd October, Reverend A.R. Edington blessed the St Luke's Church and the first confirmation was heald in January 1920. In 1930 the church was in disrepair and was renovated and rededicated on July 1930.
