This low cost campground has a maximum 6 night stay. It is located beside the river and opposite the Franklin Tavern. Caretakers will call around to collect fees. Here you will find toilets with disabled access, water, picnic tables, BBQ's and a dump point. It is quite scenic and shade is available.
Please follow all rules set out on the signage.

We stayed here is 2010 a very pleasant stopover. As the previous reviewer said supposed to be for self-contained but there were numerous vehicles dropping waste water. The hotel across the road puts on a good meal and the fish and chip shop in front of the park has a good reputation.

Superb low cost unpowered camp. Pay the fee for 3 nights and 4th night is free, and you can split your stay, just keep your receipt. The info booklet provided by the fee collector is a very helpful guide to the Huon and Bruny Island. Very relaxing outlook across the river. Well done to the community for its efforts with enabling this camp to exist.

Green grassy level sites marked out, clean toilets, caretaker takes away rubbish when he collects fees, able to fish from the edge of the river. Beautiful outlook. Thank you Franklin.

This site is currently closed to camping. See photo. No time frame to reopen. Franklin is still displaying RV friendly CMCA sign.

Stayed at Franklin after the wooden boat festival this year. The area was crowded but still quite a pleasant place to stay. I imagine the venue could be muddy in rainy times.
Manager appeared daily to collect fees, but ignored caravanners directing their hose pipes into the weedbed that lead to the nearby river.
Good toilet block (no showers). Dump Point where a queue often formed during this busy period.
