Riba's Underground Camping & Caravan Park

Caravan Park - South Australia

Located just five minutes from the opal capital of the world you will find a unique way of making your camping tour a true adventure! Riba's is a camping ground and caravan park with underground single and double rooms to suit any budget. An evening on-site Opal mine tour is the highlight of every visit. At night enjoy the stars in the desert away from lights of the city.

The concept of Riba's Underground Camping & Caravan Park began in 1994. The first section was opened in 1997 and so began the only underground tent camping in the world. In 2004 extensions were completed to include individual camping areas plus underground budget rooms. Riba's is still expanding into the future. Under the stars we also offer both powered & unpowered sites. Free showers, enclosed BBQ cooking area & coin operated laundry are available. On site is an Opal Mine where Jason conducts a very informative evening mine tour. We provide a very unique style of camping. All of this is set in a very quiet part of town. William Creek Road is only 4 km south of Coober Pedy off the Stuart Highway. Your hosts Jason & Ariane are happy to book one of the many tours of Coober Pedy, or give you all the information of the local attractions to be enjoyed.

Lovely place great owners. The owners are new so didn't know what CMCA was but still gave us our discount. Facilities are excellent highly recommended.

This is a great stay . Nice and quiet, dark sky’s for star watching and good clean facilities. The mine and tag a long tours are well worth it, CMCA discount applies to your stay and the tours . Highly recommend this place

5 km out of town, cheaper than other parks. Mine tour $24 pp expensive compared to others available, but small discount given if staying there. First time we have found no soap supplied in toilets in a caravan park.

nice people, very clean facilites, mine tour was great, we found the underground camping to be very noisy though
