Camping for RVs and Caravans is available at the Young Showground. Young's RV dump point is at the Showground.
Charges apply for power and water usage. Please contact the Showground Secretary to book power and water and for more information.
The Show Secretary can also provide information to self contained caravan and RV owners on the designated camping area.
Free Parking for Caravans and RVs in Young CBD in designated areas:
Caravans and RVs may park free of charge at the Young Visitor Information Centre at Anderson Park in the designated caravan parking area next to the old train carriage between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
From there you are just a short 2-minute walk to IGA and Boorowa Street, which is Young's commercial heart. On arrival in Young simply follow the blue and yellow Visitor Information Centre signs which are visable on all major roads into the town.
Caretaker does not carry change. Unable to change $50.00. I went directly to the nearest shop and thankfully they changed my note. Back at showground within 10 minutes and she's gone. Have rung, no return phone call.
It was some time ago when we camped here but grounds were rough and ready and grass was unmown. We were self contained and didnt use facilities and moved on after one night.
Arrived at showgrounds to find them closed to campers until Sunday. Disappointed so didn’t stay at Young.
I’m a bit torn here. The show ground is a lovely place and Young is a great town wanting to encourage Grey Nomads and the like. I recently saw Young featured in the Wanderer as an RV friendly town. I’d like to give more stars but feel anyone who arrived and met the ‘Caretaker’ would probably drive away as the female caretaker seems to have absolutely ‘no Care’ for the reputation she inflicts on the town. I’m sure many businesses in Young would be disappointed if not annoyed because the drawcard of the show ground is being negated by a rather crass and rude individual. Young will be far better served by having a more presentable and welcoming ambassador at the show ground.
The toilets were filthy and directions scant, but all in all, being self contained has many benefits as we like to help regional towns.
updated caretaker contact 0427 451 133.
showground facilities currently being upgraded. ladies excellent. mens under construction, but disabled facilities available in lieu. huge area.
It was free so 3 stars - hard to locate the manager as both phone numbers are redirected and I finally found him after driving around the showgrounds. He drives the water truck (and probably lots of other jobs) and does not appear to live on-site. He asked was I self contained (required) and after answering yes was told to camp anywhere on the hill with trees - it was all pretty lay back. I was the only one there and it took a while to find a flat spot but it was nice and peaceful away from the road.
As for the facilities - I think they probably all exist but are from when it was a payable campground. As its now part of the RVFT program and the camping is free you are required to be SC so shouldnt/cannot use them (though I was told I could get water if I wanted) - also the phone worked.
We stayed here for the 2019 Cherry Festival. We rang ahead to make a booking and it took 2 days before they returned my call. However the person whom I spoke with was very polite and gave me instructions on how to find the Caretaker when we arrived.
The Showgrounds are huge with lots of powered sites if required.
The grass had been mowed but the amenities were very old and the floor was in need of a good clean otherwise everything else was acceptable.
At the time we stayed there would have been at least 100 RV’s here and we were not parked on top of each other.
We would stay here again.
