Beenleigh is located close to the Gold Coast, only 33kms south-east of Brisbane and is Yugambeh Peoples country. A visit to the Yugambeh Museum located in town is a testament to the language and heritage of the people.


Sugar cane was the first industry in the area and Australia’s oldest Rum Distillery, Beenleigh Artisan Distillery which opened in 1884 is still fully operational today. Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum comprises of twenty heritage buildings filled with original memorabilia of times gone by and an amazing indigenous theatre dinner show, Spirits of the Red Sand. Staying in Beenleigh is made easy with short and long term self-contained only parking in Hugh Muntz Park just 850m from the centre of town. There is no charge to stay with a limit of 72 hours. The dump point and potable water is also located in Hugh Muntz Park. Beenleigh has abundant parklands, good shopping, clubs, rail connectivity to Brisbane & the Gold Coast and interesting attractions.

Dump point was full of disposable gloves and seriously blocked. It is full of backpackers. I did some research and apparently both is the norm. It is a pretty, tree covered park area but is right next to Gold Coast highway.
