Tenindewa Pioneer Well

Free Camping - Western Australia

This free camping area is quite scenic especially when it's wildflower time!  It has no facilities.

Tenindewa is usually the first area in the Mullewa region to have showings of wildflowers in bloom. The tiny siding of Tenindewa is located 18kms from Mullewa along the Geraldton/Mt Magnet Road.

The Tenindewa store and stock yards are all that remains from a busy siding in the early 1900's that contained five railway workers houses, a wheat bin and goods shed.

A further two kilometres north of the siding on the Yuna/Tenindewa Road, situated on the boundary of Woolya Reserve, you will find the Tenindewa Pioneer Well site.

For those who enjoy bush walking, Tenindewa Pioneer Well has a number of short walks that offer picturesque scenery of wildflowers in bloom between July and September. One path includes a stone footway across a small creek that, in the winter months, was used by school children who attended the Tenindewa school, to avoid slipping in the clay of the creek bed. A plaque and picture of school children now stand where the school was erected.
