The Lea Scout Centre

Private Campground - Tasmania

Camping Season: December to Easter only.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and nestle into a peaceful bush setting, here at The Lea.

Whether you are touring around Tassie, or just looking for a quick getaway in the bush, this is your perfect location.

Our campsite is just too good to keep secret, so from December to Easter, we open the gates to the general public to enjoy. Located just 15 minutes from Hobart, our bush campsites are caravan, campervan, motorhome and tent friendly. Both powered and unpowered sites are available with all sites adjacent to amenities blocks, freshwater supplies, washing machine, campfire circles, an outdoor camp kitchen including pizza oven and rotunda.

Follow the signs to The Lea from the Southern Outlet, enter The Lea Scout Centre, and follow Gilwell Drive all the way to the Top of The Lea.

A very used camp area, basically dirt and leaves between the tree. Not much level ground And a very long walk to the toilet block because no one is able to camp near them. The toilets consist of some very old ones (that were like bad public toilets) and some nice new ones. The showers had mould on the wall and the curtains, loose shower heads and no shelves or hooks in the cubicles. All very rudimentary. At $20 for 2 not good value

Works ok. Can be a long walk to ablution block as camping only in restricted areas, which is understandable as sharing the area with scouting groups. Managers need to be proactive in controlling noise from electronic music that someone always seems to need to share with everyone else. Overall ok value at $10 per head and near Hobart.
