Howitt Hut Camp Area - Alpine National Park

National Park - Victoria

This hut was built in the early 1900's and is the oldest historic hut in the area.  It's simplicity really makes you realise how tough the cattlemen were.  It's open to the public and is a good rest area for the night.  If the hut's occupied, there is plenty of room outside to camp for the night.  Here you will find toilets and a water tank (boil first before drinking).  The outside scenery of Snow Gums and overlooking the Caledonia River and surrounding plains are just gorgeous and well worth the visit.
