Alligator Creek camping area is in the Mount Elliot section of the park and is the only established camping area with facilities. Camp sites here are only suitable for tents and small campervans. There are no sites available for caravans or camper trailers (all sizes) or motorhomes.T
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.
Camping area features: beside Alligator Creek visitors can relax among gum trees or go walking to explore the surrounding creek environment.
Location: 600m beyond the main access gate, along the banks of Alligator Creek.
Access: the camping area can be reached by conventional vehicle.
Number of sites: 16 numbered sites. Up to six people per site are allowed. See table below for detailed camp site descriptions.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car; small campervans
Camp site surface: dirt
Facilities: flushing toilets, cold showers, tap (water must be treated before drinking) and camping tables. Wheelchair-accessible camping tables are located at sites one and two. The amenities block is wheelchair accessible.
Open fires: prohibited. Bring a fuel or gas stove.
Generators: not permitted.
Essentials to bring: drinking water, rubbish bags, a fuel or gas stove and insect repellent.
Bookings: book online or learn about our camping booking options. Holiday periods are extremely popular.
Mobile phone coverage: available. A public phone is located at the camping area amenities block.
Park-specific conditions
- Fires are prohibited in the park—use fuel or gas stoves only.
- Estuarine crocodiles inhabit the coastal sections of the park (Cape Cleveland and Bowling Green Bay). Always be croc wise in croc country.
