Murwillumbah Showground

Show Ground - New South Wales

In March 1891 an area of 10 acres in Murwillumbah was gazetted by the Land Department as a Showground. Over the years various parcels of land were added to the original allotment, all of which was administered by the Tweed River Agricultural Society until 1984, when the Minister for Lands appointed a Trust. The Showgrounds are a Crown Reserve and are administered by the Murwillumbah Showground Reserve Trust, which is comprised of community volunteers appointed by the Department of Lands. A Reserve Trust is a corporation established under the Crown Lands Act 1989 to manage a Crown reserve. It is not a branch of a department of government. The trust is responsible - under the oversight of the Minister - for the care, control and management of a specific Crown reserve. Reserve trusts are not conducted for private profit.

Events which are held on Murwillumbah Showground each year include the annual Agricultural Show, Pony Club and other equestrian events, Dog and Poultry Shows, Monthly Markets, weekly Farmers Markets, Tweed Foodie Fest, Bike rallies, Circuses and many other community activities.

Murwillumbah Showground is open for short term (up to 1 week) tourist camping.

The showground can cater for Fifth Wheelers, Motor Homes, Clubs, Caravans, and even Tents.

Accommodation includes power, water, hot showers and plenty of neatly mown grassed areas. Dogs are even welcome as long as they are kept under control and owners are responsible in cleaning up after them .

Our Caretakers, Greg & Meg, are sure to make you welcome and your stay enjoyable. Meg hosts “Happy Hour” every afternoon. Campers really enjoy this time of fellowship and the sharing of information – especially local places of interest. Murwillumbah Showground and the treasures of the Tweed Valley await your visit.
