This camp ground is located at the Rathdowney Memorial Grounds. It offers powered and unpowered sites. Water is also available and a dump point is being installed soon.
Area of the camp is circled by long term stayers. No indication of how to pay, or where to park. Bad vibes. We left.

This is a big oval and there is camping available on 2 sides of the oval. The entrance off Running Creek Road has its own area. We have not stayed on that side but opted for the other side which is not populated. You enter off highway 13 (the main road) about opposite the Police station. There are a couple of power boxes and taps along the fence line. Note the taps are hard to see as they are located on the side of posts so you need to look for them. There are two that I know of but may be more. There are toilets and a shower. It is nice and quiet and you can pretty well park anywhere. We have stayed twice and were the only van there both times. The caretaker will generally come by at some stage for payment. You can visit the web site and get contact information. We think this place is a great stop off.

In addition to my previous review I wanted to make the point that this place is very relaxed and casual. Yes there are some permanents on one side but not many. Everyone we have met has been very hospitable including the caretaker who is about as relaxed and casual as you can get. The town has a store, pub, ambulance station, police and really modern fire station. All of this across the road from the camping ground. Oh, and also a visitors centre. For a small town is sure has a lot going for it. Plus access to Mt Barney and a few other mountains in the area with the usual hiking from easy to very experienced. At the time of our last visit (July 2021) the new dump point was not in use. The caretaker was not sure what was going to happen to it as he thought they might have put it in the wrong place without approval.

We had to stay for two nights. Very basic amenities. A number of single well entrenched permanents. At $25 a night, it was probably $5 over priced, but the power and water worked on the 38 deg days.
